Texas Parasol. Modern variant of Heath Parasol. Designed by Chuck Beeson and Richard Lamb as easy and inexpensive to build. Constructed of 6061-T6 extruded aluminum angle with AD470 driven rivets for the fuselage. Wings are foam ribs over aluminum tubes with full span ailerons. Also called the ‘ChuckBird’. Single seat, open cockpit monoplane with strut braced parasol wing. 1600 cc VW tractor powered engine. Cruise speed 60 mph. Wing span 26’. Wing area 125 sq/ft. Empty weight 250-300 lbs. Thor T/A. (Can. 85). Designed by Thorsten B. Strenger (or Gunter Webster?), the Thor T-1 was available as a kit from Thor Air of Weston, Ontario. Single seat high wing with tractor engine. Aluminum tube and sailcloth construction. 3-Axis control. 80% double surface, strut braced wing. Taildragger landing gear with steerable tailwheel. Tomcat H.M. 81. Originally from Waspair, a British company, Some confusion about designer. Credits found for Chip Erwin, Larry Whiting and Robin Haynes. Single seat with pusher engine and first flown in 1980. High wing on top of V-shaped rudders. Canard front wing. Double surface wing, Tricycle landing gear with steerable nosewheel. Ungainly and unstable. Came in Standard, Sport and Tourer (aircamper), two seat models. Midwest Microlites.
